Scottish Couthie Spurtle – Mahogany
The traditional Scottish Couthie Spurtle was originally designed for stirring porridge (oatmeal to us Americans), its slim tapered shape breaking up lumps without bruising the ingredients. Over time, it has earned a place as a versatile kitchen tool for much more than porridge.
This handcrafted mahogany spurtle is light in the hand yet remarkably strong, making it comfortable for everyday use. Its multi-functional design makes it excellent for stirring, mixing, folding, scraping pots, breaking up lumps in sauces and batters, or even flipping and crushing ingredients. The slim profile and beveled edges give you precise control, while the rich mahogany grain makes it as beautiful as it is practical.
Finished with food-safe mineral oil, the spurtle resists staining and will last for years with simple care. Hand-wash only—no dishwashers, please. Reapply mineral oil whenever the wood begins to look dry or dull.
